Link Apartments® Glenwood South Fire Damage

The very serious fire at an apartment building under construction in Raleigh last night also damaged our multifamily community next door, Link Apartments® Glenwood South. We are most thankful that no injuries have been reported, and for the quick and effective response by the firefighters and first responders.

Link Apartments® Glenwood South has been vacated, and we do not know when residents will be able to return. We are working closely with the building inspector and fire marshal, who will check the property Friday. Of course, the safety of our residents and employees is our top priority.

The building’s life safety system is down, so the building cannot be used even though some areas were not damaged. The side of the property on Harrington Street was damaged by smoke and water, and all its windows are out. In addition, a construction crane fell into the TimeWarnerCable building next door.

Our team has been working around-the-clock to ensure our residents’ safety, help them find temporary housing, and keep them informed. We have secured discounts at nearby hotels for the displaced residents, and the Red Cross was on site during the night to assist. Disaster recovery teams for the multifamily property and the commercial property are also on site. The team will continue to work tirelessly to respond to this and help residents with their needs, and we are grateful for their dedication.

We will continue to post updates here and on the Link Apartments® Glenwood South Facebook page.
