Grubb Properties Announces Elizabeth Avenue Opening of "NOFO On Liz" Grubb Properties, the local real estate developer behind the Elizabeth Avenue District revitalization and the emerging mixed-use neighborhood of Morrison in South Park, today announced the opening of NOFO on Liz, an upscale retailer/restauranteur with a history of success in emerging neighborhoods, at 1609 Elizabeth Avenue in Charlotte. NOFO, with sister locations thriving in Wilmington and Raleigh, celebrated their opening with a "friends and family" open house last night. "We are really looking forward to being here on Elizabeth Avenue," Steve Flaugher, NOFO on Liz partner. "A lot of our customers in the other stores are from Charlotte, so word of mouth has already been building about the new store here. Plus, we think we're in the absolutely right place for us and couldn't be more happy with the team at Grubb Properties. Elizabeth Avenue is a straight shot ot Trade and Tryon, right next to Presbyterian Hospital, and minutes from our customers in Dilworth, Myers Park, Eastover, Elizabeth and more. We can only benefit as this street and district continue to develop." On the retail side, NOFO on Liz is a vibrant collection of upscale gifts and housewares; confections, books and stationers items; an assortment of wines and cheeses; and even a "doggie deli" with healthy canine treats and home-made gourmet dog foods. On the restaurant side, a soup/salad sandwich deli handles quick lunches while the cafe caters to breakfast, lunch and dinner. Menu favorites range from Bill Neal's shrimp & grits to crab Rangoon wontons and from Thai beef salad to pan seared salmon and walnut/spinach ravioli. In other words, a little something for everyone. Jonathan Nance, Grubb's director of retail, echoed Flaugher's comments, "NOFO is a perfect fit for Elizabeth Avenue. Their architects and interior deisgners took an old 7,000 square foot storefront and turned it into a visual wonderland. Their merchandising is superb, they really know who their customers are - and treat them impeccably - it won't be long before there are lines out the door."
