Grubb Properties adds Italian restaurant, wine shop and martini / wine bar to Elizabeth Avenue
Favorite Myers Park restaurant to relocate into emerging shopping/dining district/ First new building in Elizabeth Avenue revitalization now over 80% leased
Grubb Properties, the local real estate developer behind the Elizabeth Avenue District revitalization and the emerging mixed-use neighborhood of Morrison in South Park, today announced lease agreements with three new retail tenants that will push occupancy at 1523 Elizabeth Avenue past 80% and continue adding momentum to an emerging shopping, dining and office district just south of Uptown and the new Arena.
All three new tenants plan to open around the end of the year:
Volare. This cozy northern Italian eatery has been a local favorite for years at its Providence Road location in Myers Park, just down the street from the Manor Theatre. At 3700 square feet, the new location will enable them to double their size and add outdoor terrace seating – plus, proprietor Fabio Salazar intends to add lunch to the menu for the first time. See the AOL CityGuide restaurant review below.
Vinoteca. This eclectic new wine shop is the creation of local entrepreneur Adam Whalen. The 1000 square foot store will open onto Elizabeth Avenue and feature a diverse collection of wines and accessories to suit all tastes, occasions and budgets. And for those who require sampling in style before purchasing the entire bottle, there’s…
Loft 1523. A first for this part of town, Loft 1523 will be an upscale yet casual wine/martini bar featuring stunning views of the Uptown skyline from its 1500 square foot second floor terrace. Another 2000 square feet indoors means the party goes on, whatever the weather. It will be the perfect early- or late-evening complement to area restaurants and events, and it’s also an Adam Whalen production.
Volare, Vinoteca and Loft 1523 will join Grubb Properties as tenants in the building along with Clark Nexsen and Tobin Design, two award-winning architectural planning and design firms who recently signed leases for the balance of the building’s office space.
AOL CityGuide Restaurant Review: Volare
A quiet, traditional atmosphere and a prime Providence Road location are two of the draws of quaint Volare, a cozy Italian eatery in Myers Park. Located just down the street from the Manor Theatre, Volare makes a convenient post-show dinner spot after a film society offering -- just don't try to lunch here, as Volare opens at 5:30PM. The experienced waitstaff is almost all Italian, and they work a tiny 40-seat dining room with consummate skill.
The dishes they carry are prepared by Volare's Sardinian Executive Chef, Olivio Podda, who creates his dishes with spare-no-expense imported and house-made ingredients: truffle oil, scratch-made ricotta cheese, Tuscan wine and aged Parmesan. Large windows offer a flood of sunshine, light yellow walls offer a touch of color and an unpretentious European atmosphere smacks of care and authenticity rather than pretense. Entrees range from $14 to $25. Reservations are recommended. http://cityguide.aol.com/charlotte/entertainment/venue.adp?sbid=109779305
