GRUBB PROPERTIES TAKES TOP HONORS AT CHARLOTTE APARTMENT ASSOCIATION’S ANNUAL EVENT
 Clay Grubb given prestigious “Lex Marsh Award” for progressive apartment developments, industry leadership and advocacy

Charlotte, NC – November 18, 2005 – Grubb Properties, the locally-based real estate firm behind some of the most high-profile lifestyle developments in Charlotte, was recognized last night for outstanding industry leadership by the Charlotte Apartment Association (CAA).

Clay Grubb, president of Grubb Properties and past president of the CAA, was named the recipient of the 2005 Lex Marsh Award, a prestigious award created by CAA’s board to honor outstanding individual members.  Grubb was recognized as one of North Carolina’s most progressive apartment developers, in part due to high-profile urban infill mixed-use products like the Sterling Dilworth Apartments at Latta Pavilion – as well as future plans for apartment residences in the company’s large-scale mixed-use projects at Morrison and Elizabeth Avenue.  He was also cited as an articulate advocate for multifamily housing, a mentor for CAA leadership, and a champion of affordable housing in the community – with his leadership of CAA’s Habitat for Humanity House project particularly noted.

Another Grubb Properties team member – Jimmy Boone – was the recipient of the Service Team Member of the Year Award.  Boone was recognized for his outstanding performance in supervising two apartment communities simultaneously, single-handedly overseeing Park South Apartments where short-term leases create high turnover rates, supporting extensive renovations at the fire-damaged Alexander Place apartments, and volunteering to sponsor a large family of Katrina evacuees housed in Charlotte by Grubb Properties.

Boone expressed surprise at winning the award, giving credit to his co-workers and the reputation of the company in saying,“I only hope that I continue to make the people I work with glad that I’m here.”

“This is a great honor,” Grubb said.  “I’ve been in this business my entire life, and it’s what I love to do.  Most importantly, though, I’m thankful that I get to do it in a company with people like Jimmy.  Every day, we all work hard to create great places for people to live – and I’m proud of the team we have and the opportunity we’ve been given to improve the quality of life in our communities.”
