GRUBB PROPERTIES ANNOUNCES NEW TENANTS TO 1523 ELIZABETH
Loft 1523, Clark Nexsen and additional tenants coming soon.
Charlotte, NC – February 10, 2006 – Grubb Properties, the local real estate developer behind the Elizabeth Avenue District revitalization and the emerging mixed-use neighborhood of Morrison in South Park, announces the opening of LOFT 1523, a swanky martini bar and lounge owned by entrepreneur, Adam Whalen. LOFT 1523 features stunning views of the Uptown skyline from its 1500 square foot second floor terrace. Indoors, the bar has an upscale but casual environment. It is predicted to be a premier destination for Elizabeth Avenue.
“When I was looking for a space for the bar, I knew I wanted a great view of uptown and when I found the space in 1523 Elizabeth, it was perfect. The terrace wraps around the exterior walls of the bar, opening the inside to the outside with breathtaking views from any angle. Loft 1523 has a great vibe for the after work crowd, night on the town or an intimate evening for two. I’m excited to be on Elizabeth Avenue and I’m looking forward to the changes planned for this area,” says Adam Whalen.
“The Elizabeth Avenue District consists of retailers that are cool, hip, and unique to Charlotte. Loft 1523 certainly meets all three of these criteria.” Says Jonathan Nance, Director of Retail with Grubb Properties.
Clark Nexsen Architects has moved into the top floor of 1523 Elizabeth and are enjoying the 360° views. “We dedicated the corner of the space facing the Charlotte skyline for the library space. That way everyone can enjoy the views and not just a few offices,” says Tracy Whetzel of Clark Nexsen. The space has room to grow for the 80 person architect firm.
Coming late Spring ‘06 to the street-level areas of 1523 Elizabeth are Volare and Vinoteca. Volare will be moving from their Providence Road location into a much larger space (sqft). “We expect to overcome our overcrowded parking and our small dining area problems from our last space and are looking forward to the new space and the extra room,” says Fabio, owner of Volare.
Adam Whalen, owner of Loft 1523, is spearheading a new wine store concept, Vinoteca, below his martini bar. “Having both of my new concepts so close to one another was the attractive factor in moving into 1523 Elizabeth. I think one will support the other,” says Adam.
