1315 EAST CONDOMINIUM AWARDS $10,000 CUSTOM INTERIOR MAKEOVER TO “CONDO MOJO” VISITOR
The Furniture Connector and Mark McKnight Interior Design Voted Top “MOJO” Designers

CHARLOTTE, NC – May 21, 2007 - Grubb Properties, local developer behind the Elizabeth Avenue revitalization and the upscale mixed-use Morrison neighborhood in South Park, today announced the winners of several prizes and awards related to the recent “CONDO MOJO | 2007” designer showcase at 1315 East Condominium in Dilworth.

Danna Goodwin of Mooresville was randomly selected to receive the $10,000 custom makeover and has selected Kelly Cruz Interiors, one of five CONDO MOJO designers, to perform the work.

CONDO MOJO | 2007 was a four-week gallery of urban design and decorating ideas from five of Charlotte’s most creative design firms.  Each designer was given an available condominium flat at 1315 East to work in and a spending cap that reflected what an average buyer might spend to update and personalize a new urban condominium.  The five floorplans were open to the public between March 24 and April 15 with donations to The Family Center accepted in lieu of admission fees.

Visitors to CONDO MOJO – who were able to talk with designers, compare notes from different decorating styles and purchase furniture and furnishings that were on display – were given the opportunity to vote on a favorite designer condominium as well as register for a chance to win $10,000 custom makeover from one of the “mojo” designers.

“I couldn’t believe it when they called me,” Goodwin said.  “This never happens to me.  The CONDO MOJO homes at 1315 East were all so beautiful – and so different.  I have a million ideas and can’t wait to get with Kelly to see what I can do!”

“We’re really looking forward to working with Danna and pleased that she chose us to be her partner,” said Kelly Cruz.  “We put a lot of heart and creativity into our CONDO MOJO ideas and we’re thrilled by the response we’ve had – and obviously by this opportunity to do something special for Danna.”

Separately, the condominium decorated by Mark McKnight Interior Design and Rodney Hines of The Furniture Connector was voted by gallery visitors as the overall “best in show.”  The one-bedroom terrace-level condominium at 1315 East featured dramatic touches like a glass tile kitchen backsplash that extended to the ceiling, extensive shadow box wall treatments, dramatic and eclectic overhead and tabletop lighting, urban transitional furnishings in geometrically accented earth tones, and romantically backlit oversized ferns.

The winning condominium – along with it’s “mojo’d” furnishings – actually sold the first weekend it was on display, and the designers were retained for several future assignments by CONDO MOJO visitors over the course of the 4-week gallery.

“This was a great experience all around,” said Hines.  “The condominium we had to work in at 1315 East was just a spectacular space from the beginning – and we’d like to think that we made it even better.  We’re happy it sold and thrilled to hear how much the visitors to CONDO MOJO liked our work!”

In addition to Cruz, Hines and McKnight, CONDO MOJO also featured design and decorating work from: Kevin Mann of Spenzac; Stacie Salisbury of Metropolitan Design; and Wade and Jennifer Carwile of The Inspired Home.

1315 East has been one of Charlotte’s fastest selling condominiums over the past year.  In 2006, the project closed on over 111 sales and presently has fewer than 20 remaining one- and two-bedroom flats available.  Condominium homes are situated above the shops and restaurants of Latta Pavilion on East Boulevard in Dilworth with views of a landscaped two-level waterfall enhanced courtyard and the surrounding Dilworth streetscape.  Residents can walk to coffee shops, parks, an assortment of grocers, and some of Charlotte’s most notable restaurants while Uptown is only minutes away by car.  Prices on the remaining homes range from the $200s to the $430s.
