Move over Rooster’s and Las Ramblas. Charlotte’s hottest new restaurant is Customshop. Foodies had been salivating over its arrival ever since Grubb Properties, the development group that is remaking Elizabeth Avenue, announced it. Locals John Sergi and J. J. Levine are in charge, with consultation from David Pasternack, partner of superstar chef Mario Batali and 2004 James Beard winner of Best Chef in New York. The food is creative American with an emphasis on seasonal and local ingredients, and the entrées top out at $20. An early favorite is the scrambled egg with peekytoe crab.
