GRUBB PROPERTIES WELCOMES FIREBIRDS WOOD FIRED GRILL TO MORRISON AT SOUTH PARK
Local dining favorite will bring “Colorado-inspired cuisine” to premier Sharon Road location
CHARLOTTE, NC – August 20, 2007 - Grubb Properties and Casto Lifestyle Properties, partners in the emerging mixed-use neighborhood of Morrison in South Park, today announced a lease agreement with local restaurant favorite Firebirds Wood Fired Grill. Firebirds will open its third Charlotte-area restaurant – and 13th overall – in a 6711 square foot space at the Sharon Road entrance to Morrison. The two-level space – steps from the corner of Sharon and Colony Roads in South Park – was specially designed for upscale dining. It is immediately adjacent to corner sites now being built for Capitol and Barnes & Noble, who will open their shops at Morrison next spring.
Firebirds, the creative concept of local owner Dennis Thompson, features “Colorado-inspired” cuisine and décor. Bold flavors, sauces and spices enhance flame-grilled steaks, fresh seafood, hearty pastas, awesome burgers and giant salads – all served in a cozy lodge setting of oversized stone fireplaces, exposed wood beams, hardwood floors and stacked stone columns. Diners will also enjoy an open-air kitchen and outdoor terrace seating with live seasonal entertainment.
“The flavor of our food and dining experience is authentic to what you would find out west,” Thompson said. “It’s both appealing and unique…the kind of place where you can grab an incredible burger before a movie or really relax with a steak and a great bottle of wine. Charlotte has really embraced Firebirds since we opened our first restaurant in 2000 – we think this new location puts us in the heart of the market and we hope to become a favorite in South Park as well.”
Firebirds Wood Fired Grill was recently named the 21st fastest growing restaurant chain in America by Restaurant Business magazine. Other Charlotte locations include Stonecrest and Northlake Mall.
“We couldn’t be happier about Firebirds,” said Jonathan Nance, Grubb’s director of commercial leasing, “both for residents and shoppers at Morrison and for the larger South Park dining scene. This is a unique dining experience that will stand out in the market, and one that’s already proven its appeal in Charlotte. The menu is exciting, the décor and ambience are unlike anything else in the city, service is exceptional, and moderate price points make it accessible for both special occasion and everyday dining.”
“Firebirds is going to be a big hit at Morrison.”
The restaurant is expected to open early next spring.
The lease was negotiated for Morrison by Grubb Properties’ Jana Foreman.
Firebirds joins a growing merchant list at Morrison including: Earth Fare, Varji & Varji Salon and Spa, winestore, Laughing Buddha Yoga Salon, Arooji’s Wine Room, and Drapery Ever After. Planned openings through next spring include: Barnes & Noble, Capitol, Swoozie’s, Asana Activewear, Yama Asian Fusion Restaurant, Stickley Furniture, and more.
