GRUBB PROPERTIES HOSTS 4TH ANNUAL INVITATIONAL GOLF TOURNEY AT UWHARRIE POINT
$30,000 raised for The Family Center & Habitat for Humanity

CHARLOTTE, NC –  October 15, 2007 - Grubb Properties, the local developer behind the Elizabeth Avenue revitalization and the emerging mixed-use neighborhood of Morrison in South Park, raised $30,000 this week for two North Carolina charities by hosting its fourth annual “Grubb Properties Invitational” golf tournament at the Old North State Club at Uwharrie Point.

Grubb played host to about 140 players representing all facets of the commercial real estate industry: brokers, lenders, architects, general contractors, attorneys, media, business partners and more.  After expenses, the event set a new record by raising $15,000 each for The Family Center of Charlotte and Habitat for Humanity of Wake County.

“It couldn’t have been a better tournament,” Jonathan Nance, vice-president of commercial leasing for Grubb Properties, said.  “Blue skies, most of our closest business partners in attendance, great gifts and prizes for the players, one of North Carolina’s most beautiful and challenging courses – and most importantly, of course, the opportunity to support two organizations that make a world of difference in the Charlotte and Triangle communities.”

“We’re disappointed that no one won the “Million Dollar Shootout” this year – we’re confident that anyone out here would have donated a significant chunk of that prize to one or both of these worthy organizations!”

Daryl Hollnagel, chief executive of The Family Center in Charlotte, accepted the donation from Clay Grubb and added, “This tournament has become an annual highlight, and we thank Grubb Properties on behalf of the children and families we serve for their leadership and commitment to the Charlotte community.”

Debbi Fox-Davis, assistant director of development at Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, added, “The real estate community has been a great supporter of Habitat’s mission over the years – we thank Grubb Properties, the players and the sponsors of this tournament for their generous contribution to safe, decent, affordable housing in the Triangle.”

Major sponsors for the tournament included: Apartment Realty Advisors, Berkeley Capital Advisors, Carocon Construction, Little Diversified Architectural Consulting, McAllister Group, Rodgers Builders, and Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC.
