“COLOR, THE COMMON GROUND”
North comes South and abstraction joins realism when NoDa’s ArtHouse comes to South Park in December!

Join Karen Peppers and Paul Hastings, studio artists in the historic North Davidson arts community, at the December “2nd Wednesday Night” arts event at Morrison, the new-urban neighborhood of shops, restaurants, condominiums and apartment homes at the corner of Sharon and Colony Roads in South Park

Peppers and Hastings – well-known and respected among area artists and art buyers/collectors – will showcase their very dissimilar styles at a public reception and art show/sale hosted in the Clubhouse and “Upstairs Gallery” at Morrison’s 721 Condominiums.  Enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres with the artists on December 12, from 6-8pm.

Their diverse styles find commonality in the vivid colors both artists favor. Swirling whirlpools of color draw you emotionally into Karen Peppers abstractions, just as surely as you are physically pulled into the canvas of Paul Hastings vast, soaring land and seascapes.

Using a palette of primary colors, papers and texture, Karen Peppers’ canvases combine imagination and recollection of people and places presented in her own unique style.  She often incorporates the female figure in her representational abstract works.

Paul Hastings is widely known for his Carolina low country marshes and more recently for his Tuscan landscapes.  Make way for your gaze to soar over open seas or mountain ranges, vineyards or wetlands.  Migrating from one work to another you will travel to a place that brush stroke and color capture best.

Haven’t visited the NoDa artist’s community?  Let them bring NoDa to you – upstairs at 721 Governor Morrison Street in Morrison, across the breezeway from Charlotte’s newest Earth Fare gourmet grocer.

You can also visit the artists in their studios at The ArtHouse on 3103 Cullman Avenue in NoDa or via their websites: www.kpeppers.com or www.startingover.us .
