Grubb Properties Releases “Corporate Responsibility: 2023 Grubb Properties ESG Report”

February 28, 2024

“Access to quality, affordable housing remains one of America’s greatest challenges today. While Grubb Properties has been providing creative solutions to the housing affordability crisis since its founding, for the past 30 years we have also been doggedly pursuing energy efficiency.” - Grubb Properties CEO Clay Grubb in his introduction to “Corporate Responsibility: 2023 Grubb Properties ESG Report”

Corporate responsibility has been at the heart of Grubb Properties since our founding more than 60 years ago. Over the past several years, we have focused on putting these values into action and formalizing how we measure, track, and report on our progress.

Our recently released “Corporate Responsibility: 2023 Grubb Properties ESG Report” shares our latest reporting on the metrics that show both the bottom-line impact of our efforts as well as the difference we are making in the communities we are part of. In addition to environmental benefits, our sustainability efforts reduce costs for our residents, make us eligible for rebates and tax deductions, and lower operating expenses for our communities.

We believe the long-term success of our company and our essential housing focus depends on strong corporate governance and effective risk management.

Among the highlights of this year’s report:
  • Our 2023 GRESB Development score was 89/100, while our Standing Investment score was 68/100. Both scores increased 6 points from 2022.
  • Link Apartments℠ communities use 25% less energy in common areas and 15% less energy per unit than comparable properties in their submarkets.
  • We opened two communities in 2023, adding 561 much-needed units to America’s housing supply.
  • We have 84 electric vehicle charging ports across our portfolio and provide storage facilities for 1,013 bikes.
  • Grubb Properties was named among the top 50 impact companies worldwide by the Young Presidents Organization’s Real Leaders Magazine, which has a membership of more than 34,000 companies.
