Grubb Properties Appoints Harold A. “Skip” Schwartz III As Deputy Chief Investment Officer

Veteran global institutional real estate executive will lead Grubb Properties’ capital  formation efforts

Charlotte, NC, May 8, 2025 – Grubb Properties, a vertically integrated real estate company focused on the essential housing segment through its national Link Apartmentsbrand, today announced the appointment of Harold A. “Skip” Schwartz III as the firm’s Deputy  Chief Investment Officer. In this role, Schwartz will lead the capital formations team and leverage his significant capital relations and portfolio management expertise to deepen and expand Grubb Properties’ partnerships with institutional investors globally.  

Schwartz joins Grubb Properties with three decades of experience in all phases of real estate investment management across global markets. Prior to Grubb Properties, he worked at Heitman, most recently having built the firm’s Asian investment management business from the ground-up and then as a Senior Advisor to the platform upon his return to the US. Over his 13 years in Tokyo and Hong Kong, he not only oversaw their acquisitions and portfolio management teams but also key capital and partner relationships for the business’ private equity real estate investment activities across the region. He was also the Portfolio Manager for the firm’s first Asian commingled fund. Prior to his time in  Asia, he spent three years in London and four in Frankfurt expanding Heitman’s European investment platform. He joined Heitman in 1996 and spent the first five years in the firm’s  US acquisitions team in Chicago.

Schwartz received his BA with honors in International Relations and his MA in  Organizational Behavior from Stanford University. He received his MBA from the Fuqua  School of Business at Duke University. He is a member of ULI and has also been a frequent conference speaker and panel participant on a variety of real estate themes, including sustainability initiatives, alternative asset classes and investment trends. Among his volunteer activities, he serves as Treasurer of the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga and is on the board of Invest Chattanooga and the Humane Educational  Society.
