Grubb Properties Honored With Community Impact Award

By Grubb Properties Development Team

At an event held on Friday, June 16, Grubb Properties was thrilled to accept the Community Impact Award at the Chamber for a Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro’s 2023 Business Excellence Awards ceremony.

2023 Business Excellence Awards

Ten awards winners in various categories were selected by The Chamber’s Award Selection Committee, made up of local business and community leaders from diverse industries with a demonstrated commitment to the community.

The Community Impact Award is presented to “an outstanding organization that has significantly and measurably made social, economic or environmental improvements within the Chapel-Hill-Carrboro community.” We’re gratified that our work in downtown Chapel Hill and at Glen Lennox was recognized.

In the words of the Chamber:

“In Chapel Hill, no organization is currently having a greater positive impact on our local economy than Grubb Properties.

Most notably, Grubb is helping lead the redevelopment of downtown’s Franklin and Rosemary Street into Chapel Hill’s future Innovation District, beginning with their purchase and redevelopment of the newly renamed Junction, a glass-clad innovation hub and start-up accelerator anchored by two floors of UNC’s Innovate Carolina.

For their substantial and lasting investments in Chapel Hill consistent with community priorities, we are proud to name Grubb Properties the recipient of the Chamber’s 2023 Community Impact Award.”

The Chamber also cited our recently approved Life Sciences Center and Link Apartments℠ community downtown, as well as our work at Glen Lennox, about a mile away from the UNC campus. Glen Lennox has been redeveloped into a live-work-play community, planned with community involvement to respect the heritage of the site while preparing it for a bright future.

Most recently, we opened The Gwendolyn, an office building named after Gwendolyn Harrison Smith, the first Black woman to enroll at UNC-Chapel Hill. Link Apartments℠ Calyx, a seven-story, 304-unit multifamily community, is expected to start pre-leasing in the fall of 2023 , joining Link Apartments℠ Linden to provide more essential housing to Glen Lennox.

Our developments in downtown Chapel Hill are funded by the Link Apartments Opportunity Zone REIT.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Chamber for this great honor and look forward to continued collaboration with UNC-Chapel Hill, the Chamber, and all Chapel Hill stakeholders.
