Grubb Properties Multifamily Economic and Market Forecast 2026

Event Replay: Multifamily Economic and Market Forecast 2026 Featuring Jeff Adler from Yardi Matrix

Jeffrey Adler, vice president at Yardi Matrix, shared his 2026 outlook for the middle-income multifamily market, the forces shaping it, and market opportunities within it in a recent Multifamily Economic and Market Forecast 2026 webinar hosted by Grubb Properties.

In discussion with Grubb Properties President Todd Williams, Adler covered how the housing industry and investors can respond to market volatility, variations in regulations, and lingering effects from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Key takeaways from Adler’s presentation included:
  • The U.S. housing shortage, decades in the making, is unlikely to abate soon
  • Renting remains significantly cheaper than owning a home, meaning that “renters by necessity” are competing for available supply with “renters by choice”
  • How Sunbelt cities in Texas, Florida, and the Carolinas are faring in the current supply cycle
  • The forces shaping the housing outlook for gateway cities including New York and Los Angeles
  • The regulatory, demographic, and supply information investors should consider when weighing markets
