Grubb Properties' 2026 Summer Interns Get Hands-On Experience Across the Business

August 27, 2026

The combination of professional growth and meaningful contribution defined Grubb Properties’ 2026 Summer Internship Program.

The six college students in the 2026 internship program began with a tailored plan that allowed their assignments to evolve around their abilities and career interests while still reflecting the needs of the department they supported.

Beyond the desk with our 2026 interns

Melissa Needham, Associate Director of Talent Acquisition at Grubb Properties, noted the company’s ongoing commitment to improving the internship program each year by incorporating intern and supervisor feedback.

“So much of our intern program has been shaped by the people who have participated in it in prior years,” Needham said. “At the end of intern program, we ask interns and supervisors what made the experience valuable and where it could improve. We then build on its strengths and throw out what doesn’t work in giving interns exposure to different parts of the business and relationships they can take with them beyond the summer.”

Interns had opportunities to learn from and connect with leaders across the company, including CEO Clay Grubb.
New features to the 2026 intern program included:
  • Department-specific internship plans based on the role, intern background and prior program feedback.
  • Professional development that shifted from formal presentations to a more interactive Teams format using TED Talks, discussion prompts and real-time workplace observations.
  • A supervisor Teams channel to improve communication and coordination throughout the internship.
  • Lunch & Learn pairings that more closely matched interns with leaders throughout the company based on the interns’ areas of business interest.

Popular and effective elements of previous years’ programs that carried over into 2026 included a welcome breakfast, Private Equity 101 session, and property tours.
