Grubb Properties Launches Link Apartments Legacy Leaders Program
April 23, 2026
Behind every strong onboarding experience is a mentor who knows how to guide, support, and develop others well.
That’s the idea behind Link Apartments Legacy Leaders, a proprietary program recently launched by Grubb Properties’ Operations Support & Training Team for mentors guiding new team members across the maintenance and leasing teams at Link Apartments® communities.
As a vertically integrated company, Grubb Properties has in-house property management and operations teams. This structure is a significant factor in our performance, allowing us to control each stage of an asset’s lifecycle. Our leasing and maintenance teams focus on delivering intentional and attentive service to our residents, driving resident satisfaction that can lead to longer tenures and help maintain or increase the property’s value.
“Link Apartments Legacy Leaders is our way of investing in our people who love to invest in others,” says Amanda Lingenfelser, Operations Support & Training Manager and developer of the mentor program. “The program is designed to help company mentors be more intentional in how they develop others. When we strengthen how knowledge is shared across mentors and new team members, we see more consistent performance at the community level.”
By the end of April, more than 20 current team members serving as mentors had completed the Link Apartments Legacy Leaders program. As the program grows, it will continue to play a key role in how Grubb Properties develops and supports its teams.
Link Apartments Legacy Leaders helps mentors address two of the most common barriers to successfully transferring knowledge. First is how to avoid “expert traps,” where experienced employees inadvertently move too quickly or skip steps because a task feels second nature to them. The second is learning breakdowns, where new hires struggle to absorb or apply what they’ve been shown. When mentors can identify and address these challenges, they communicate more clearly and provide more effective onboarding.
“Stepping into a mentor role through this training helped me realize it’s not just about showing someone how to do the job, it’s about making sure they feel comfortable and confident along the way,” says Shontel Isler, Leasing Consultant at Link Apartments® Grant Park in Atlanta, GA. “When new team members understand the ‘why,’ they carry themselves differently, and that really shapes their experience.”
The benefits of Link Apartments Legacy Leaders extend across our property operations, resident experience and our broader culture.
For our teams:
- Establishes a more consistent approach to onboarding across Link Apartments® communities
- Reduces early-stage training errors by improving how processes are taught
- Strengthens communication and alignment among onsite teams

With programs like this as part of our dedicated training, we hope to continue our award-winning property management services to deliver excellent quality of life to all our residents while increasing the value of our communities.
